It could have been a blockbuster final should the two have met in Kiev but one of the two will meet Liverpool or Roma instead.

Roma's sporting director Monchi said: "This seems the perfect opportunity to achieve the happiness that we couldn't get all those years ago".

Cast your mind back to the quarter-final draw.

But the Liverpool manager insists Roma will present a formidable barrier to his team's bid to reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2007.

With 29 goals, four ahead of Kane, Salah is the favourite for the Premier League Golden Boot and he reacted quickly when it was first announced the Englishman was awarded the goal through appeal.

"They're going to be pragmatic, they won't mind shutting up shop and digging in and not trying to outplay Liverpool, like Madrid and Munich probably would do".

Bayern is in the pot for the sixth time in seven seasons after falling to Real in the quarter-finals last year, with fellow five-time champions Liverpool back in the semis for the first time since 2008.

Roma, meanwhile, recorded one of the most astonishing victories in Champions League history, overturning a 4-1 first leg deficit to dump Barcelona and Lionel Messi out of Europe.

You need to focus on winning games and winning points and when mathematically you achieve what you want, then it's over.

Earlier in the day the draw for the semi-finals in the Europa league also took place with Atletico Madrid and Arsenal also present in the draw.

"It is just the draw and I know it is very exciting, but it is good because the most important news is we are still in the competition". The English side has happy memories of the 1984 final, played in Rome's Olympic Stadium.

Real Madrid went to Turin and cruised to a 3-0 win the first leg. But when the matchup shifted to the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos needed a late penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo to stave off brutal humiliation and advance on 4-3 aggregate.

After a poor domestic campaign for Real Madrid, boss Zinedine Zidane looks set to be axed unless he can lift the Champions League trophy for the third year in a row.
