Scott Frost's Central Florida team has been the subject of a lot of debate in the last week after beating Auburn in the Peach Bowl to finish an undefeated season. "And if one of the Group of 5 teams has a season like we had at UCF, then maybe they deserve to get in", Frost said.

The festivities will include a pep rally.

UCF Athletics Director Danny White also said that "As Orlando's Hometown Team, we're looking forward to celebrating with our community on Monday night".

Eventually, Frost was allowed into the press box as a discussion about expanding the playoff field to eight teams ironically loomed on a television playing ESPN in the background. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Campus Sports.

The University of Central Florida Knights football players are national champions, at least in the state of Florida. "Thanks to the City of Orlando and Mayor Dyer for helping make this national championship celebration special for our student-athletes and fans".

But SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey dismissed the Knights' claim by not addressing it, 247sports.com reported Saturday. The official Twitter account for the team even changed their profile to read "2017 National Champions".

The event is free and considered to be family-friendly.

Like Nebraska, Alabama went through a period of on-field struggles until the Crimson Tide hired Nick Saban, who has won four national titles since 2009.

"It wasn't right", said Frost. "Doesn't mean anything to anybody but them".
