But, in addition to the 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight film studios (both owned by 21st Century Fox), Disney could potentially add the following to its assets: FX and National Geographic-branded networks; feature animation producer Blue Sky Studios; reality show production company Endemol Shine Group; and worldwide broadcasters like Asia's Star TV (which has 58 channels in India alone) and pan-European broadcaster Sky (in which Fox owns a 39% share).

Would you like to see Disney acquiring Fox?

The talks of a Fox sale begin in November when Disney reportedly reached out to Fox to open negotiations.

The deal with Disney would include Fox's movie and TV studios, as well as worldwide holdings in ventures including a stake in United Kingdom satellite company Sky. Reuters also notes that "Fox would keep its news and business news divisions, its broadcast stations and Fox Sports, the sources said".

In addition to Disney and Comcast, both Sony and Verizon Communications have been previously named as potential suitors.

A new report from CNBC suggests that the two sides are close to finalizes Disney's purchase of most of Fox's assets, including the 20th Century Fox movie studio, and that it could be announced as soon as next week.

Disney would also gain access to more content for its upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service and increase its stable of cable networks at a time when ballooning sports rights costs are dragging down its once-formidable ESPN.
