"I want to say to the fans, 'Thank you so much for waiting, '" level-designer Masakazu Eguchi said on the stream. Until then, feel free to gawk at the game's debut trailer. Now that he's back, maybe we can see him in more fighting games in the future.

"The classic series takes a leap forward in visual presentation in Mega Man 11 with a 2.5D design direction introducing beautiful, completely hand-drawn characters and environments".

But the beauty and horror of the Blue Bomber is true. Mega Man has received some upgrades, too.

Capcom has finally announced "Mega Man 11" and confirmed its late 2018 release date. All eight games in the spinoff Mega Man X series are also heading for all consoles.

Mega Man 11 wasn't the only announcement that was made in the Mega Man 30th Anniversary Livestream, with the news that Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will release on Nintendo Switch. This isn't like the older NES titles so the game looks a bit more modern. Capcom will also introduce a Rewind feature to the games, letting players undo short-term mistakes.

Carefully skirting directly around that conversation, let's keep the focus on this new Mega Man game. The new game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC.

Mega Man 11 is due out in late 2018.

A new weapon shown in the trailer drops four bricks right in front of Mega Man.

Even better is the number of platforms Mega Man 11 will launch on.

Mega Man X, which started on the Super Nintendo as a sort of soft-reboot for the classic 2D platforming series, has long been one of the most beloved entries in the franchise.
