Known for its Battle Royale style of gameplay, players are parachuted onto an island and much scavenge for weapons, armor, and other necessary materials, all while fighting enemy players in order to be the last one standing. The game has surpassed 1 million concurrent players and is quickly closing in on 2.
While that's hardly the two million concurrent players that Battlegrounds has recently drawn, that's still something very cool, especially for a game that's still building an audience in early access. In addition, on Sunday 16.3 million players logged into Steam, 12% of that player base was playing PUBG. It is currently available for $30 each, with Bluehole assuring fans that they will not raise its price once the game officially launches. Were you one of the nearly 2 million players?
It also looks like Microsoft could be maneuvering to ensure PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds will remain a console exclusive on the Xbox platform. BlueHole did offer an explanation and apologie in a Steam thread along with a schedule detailing when the new season will start. As the game continues to obliterate records some thought wasn't possible, you have to wonder...how long can PUBG keep this up?
News of Microsoft's plan to extend its exclusivity period with Bluehole does not come as a surprise, according to Express.
In a post on the game's website, the developer revealed that the game's leaderboards won't be reset as usual today and will instead be going on hold for a week. It's Xbox One version is expected to be released later this year.
