"A shooting has been reported at TTU Police Department".

Police say Daniels was apprehended after he fled on foot.

"The family of the deceased officer will be in the prayers of the entire Texas Tech community".

Before he was located by police, police said Daniels' family called the campus counseling center expressing concern that the suspect was making comments about suicide and possibly had a weapon.

Hollis Daniels, 19, was arrested and brought to the campus police station for questioning. I have spoken to Chancellor Robert Duncan to offer my condolences, and I have mobilized the Texas Department of Public Safety to offer any assistance to the Lubbock Police Department. The message urges students and staff to take shelter. "I want to express my deep appreciation to the Texas Tech Police Department, Lubbock Police Department, Lubbock Sherriff's Office, and other state and federal law enforcement officials for their response." .

"First and foremost, our hearts go out to the family of the police officer killed at Texas Tech University".

Texas Tech University campus lockdown has been lifted.
