The rally was originally meant as a protest over the planned removal of a statue honoring Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

The crash happened just a few hours after a car plowed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting against the white nationalist rally.
At least one person was seen lying on the ground receiving medical treatment from the incident which involved three vehicles, according to the city's police department.
